As with most of my obsessions, I researched this one to death. But, I have to say I think I came out ahead in the long run...
I have finally purchased my most desired treasure! Last night I purchased the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT! WooHoo! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! It's supposed to arrive on Friday, but my lenses are shipping seperately, so I'm not sure that I'll get to play with it before I leave for Texas next Wednesday. {insert tears here}
I bought the camera body without the kit lens, since all the reviews I read says it sucks. Instead, I bought a 28-135mm IS telephoto lens and a 50mm f/1.8 lens for portraits. I also got a new 2GB CompactFlash memory card (what a crock that my Canon PowerShot and my Canon Rebel take different memory cards!!!), a Canon gadget bag, extra battery, and haze filter. Got everything from amazon.com - no tax, no shipping! I faired pretty well on the total pricetag, but still OUCH!
So, I think I pretty much spent all my money, and called in all my favors and special treatment from DH. Seems that my hobbies are quickly passing up his in the cost department! I did tell him that my ultimate goal is to start a home-based photography studio...so eventually, I should make some of the money back, plus save ourselves money from having to visit a portrait studio at Sears or Olan Mills to get pics done of our yet-to-be-conceived children (LOL!).
I'll post pics as soon as I get a chance to play with my new toy!

Spring Has Sprung!
It's been a pretty darn good day for a Monday!
After a few years of searching for a local stylist, I think I may have finally found her! On a friend's recommendation, I made an appointment with Jessica at our local Aveda salon, Rumors. I didn't give her much to work with...1) haven't had my hair cut or colored since May, 2) showed up with my hair in a headband, so she had no clue how I actually wear my hair, and 3) we were pressed for time since her receptionist failed to mention how thick my hair is! But as God closed a door, He opened a window. She had no preconception about how I *should* look, and I gave her minimal guidelines, and as a result I have a totally new look that everyone seems to love, including ME! What a much needed change here in Snow City! Most people usually go lighter for summer, but I decided to go dark...dark and rich. If I weren't in my gym clothes with a giant zit on my chin, I'd take a pic and post, but I'll do that later. Y'all will not recognize me. I had more than one guy at work today take a second glance because they had no idea who I was!
Blessing #2...it is finally *WARM* here! Granted, last week was in the 60's and helped to melt much of the remaining snow, but today it actually broke 70 degrees. In fact, this weekend Jeremy and I both commented on seeing new green shoots of grass coming up along the side of the roads. Yipee skippy! I have never been more ready for Spring than I am this year. It makes me itch to wear flip flops and my denim skirt. In fact, I even drove home with the window down today just to breathe in the fresh air (I did have to ignore the smog and exhaust from the cars all around me, but today I'm an optimist!). The car was warm without blasting the heat, I wore my sunglasses to cut the glare of the sun not the snow, and I think I got at least one new freckle on my face. It's a beautiful thing!
To top it all off...our VP came to my office this afternoon with an envelope. A bonus check! He had to have known the only way to make my day better was with a wad of cash. Jeremy and I were just talking this morning about the trip we want to take this year to Greece, which will cost a little more than either of us are comfortable with or used to spending on ourselves for vacation. Now with the help of my faithful employer, it might just become a reality! We figured this would probably be the last year we could take an expensive trip overseas since we'll likely be tied down with little ones sooner rather than later. What a great way for us to celebrate our marriage, our love for each other, and our future! I am so anxious to get started on some reservations.
God's other blessings:
1) Jeremy's little sister made a road trip home with 7 friends from Georgia for Spring Break. She led worship in church yesterday and we got to have lunch with them all. She is such an inspiration to me as a Christian. She's only 18 and has such a love for God and her faith, not to mention she has a beautiful voice when she sings!
2) My sister will be home next week. Haven't seen her since Christmas! I would ask for prayers for my family tho, as she is bringing home her boyfriend. We only met him briefly (like 5 minutes) over a year ago, and my parents spent minimal time with him in January. Pray that if he's the one that God has sent to be her mate, that the rest of us can find room in our hearts to accept him and love him. Pray that if he's not the one, that my sister would find the truth and wisdom to see it, and the strength to let him go. It's not an ideal situation to say the least.
3) I will be headed to hot Houston in less than three weeks to see my cherished SJ friends. I am so looking forward to spending time and fellowship with them! Maybe we'll actually get some scrappin' done too!

Much better!
Okay, this blog host is sooooo much better than LiveJournal! I think I just got bored with the other one...I couldn't add all the cool things there that I've added here (like my JBJ video?)! Maybe I'll be more inclined to keep up with this one since I can keep it fresh.
Let's see, what's new?
I've started my new job *finally* and I really do like it! It's limited to a 40-hour week, so I am so lovin' that! I've had one training class so far, and some one-on-one trainings, with another larger training class next week. Seems like I'm making an impact so far...everyone keeps telling me that I'm making their jobs easier. That's a good thing!
I was really sick for about a week, last week. I was *so* miserable! My head and sinuses were so congested, and along with that came the sinus headaches (seemingly the bane of my existence). Now Jeremy has it, and he's been so miserable this week. I don't know if it's worse on him or ME! You all know how helpless our men become when they're sick! Moaning, sniffling, whining! Thank God he's starting to feel better today!
Last weekend, we hosted a baby shower for my friend Julia. She's due in four weeks! I can't believe she's so close already. I can't wait to meet little Alexandra and see her in all those little pink clothes!
I'm trying to get back into the MB a little more. I have been so busy with my job the last few months that I let the MB take the brunt of my absence (oh, and this blog too!). So, I promise, I'll be back soon!
